If you enjoy hiking...
we have a trail for you. The Na
Pali Coast (Kalalau) trail is 3 miles from our
doorstep and provides one of the most spectacular hikes in the world.
One can hike 11 miles along the cliffs of Na Pali to Kalalau valley
(the "Valley of the Healing Light") if you want the ultimate that Na
Pali has to offer. This day long hike (each way) provides tremendous
ocean and valley views.
Permits are required and should be obtained in advance of your vacation
(Contact us for more info). You can choose a great day hike to Hanakapiai
Valley. This is a 2 mile hike along the coast to the valley mouth and
then another 2 miles up valley to one of the most impressive waterfalls
in Hawaii. Here you can swim and enjoy nature at it's peak. There are
many excellent hiking trails on Kauai which provide you with great options.
For the Romantic

Sunset at Ke'e Beach:
This is a daily ritual at "the end of the road" and the beginning
of Na Pali Coast. Majestic peaks, the cliffs of Na Pali, splendid
ocean, crashing waves and colorful clouds are unsurpassed anywhere
as you watch the setting sun. |

Hanalei Bay:
This two mile long crescent shaped bay by moonlight inspired one
of the most famous of Hawaiian songs, "Hanalei Moon." A must to
stroll for every romantic. It's rather outrageous in the daylight
as well. |
For the Body and Spirit
 |
Yoga: Astanga
and Hatha yoga workshops are offered at least six days per week.
One of the best Astanga yoga teachers, Bhavani, offers classes or
private instruction. Hatha yoga classes are offered by two teachers
who are both excellent. There are many workshops and retreats offered
by visiting teachers throughout the year. |

Spiritual Workshops:
Kauai is becoming a spiritual mecca. There are numerous ongoing
classes and many special world renown teachers and masters frequent
Kauai offering classes, workshops and retreats. There are ongoing
classes and talks given by a local Kahuna. |

Massage and body work classes:
There is a tremendous diversity and variety
of massage therapists and body workers to choose from to help soothe
your body and soul. Nearly every technique known is available here.
There are two massage schools located on the north shore and many
classes and workshops are given by local practitioners as well as
visiting teachers. |
For the Adventurer

Beaches:
You will recognize numerous beaches from movies and your dreams
within a fifteen minute drive. The north shore of Kauai is famous
for beautiful uncrowded beaches. We have many of the of the most
spectacular shorelines in the archipelago. |

Hiking:
Kauai has more hiking trails than all of the other Hawaiian islands
added together. The world famous Na Pali Coast trail is a short
ten minute drive. There are trails in Hanalei valley, Kilauea, Kapaa,
Wailua and over a dozen trails at Kokee and Waimea canyon. There
are miles of beautiful beaches and shoreline to be explored as well.
Amateurs to the best of hikers will find their challenge and joy. |

Windsurfing: The
north shore of Kauai has great windsurfing for beginners to the
best of sailors. Many of the worlds best board sailors come from
here. Instruction, for all levels of skill, is available daily (wind
permitting). |

Surfing:
The winter months can brings tremendous swells to the north shore.
There are numerous outrageous breaks within 10 minutes drive. This
is also a great spectator sport. |

Snorkeling:
Tunnels (Makua), one of the best spots to snorkel on Kauai, is only
a five minute drive. This is also a popular scuba diving location
when the water is calm. There are several other good snorkeling
reefs within 10 minutes. |

Kayaking:
There are several beautiful serene rivers to kayak on the north
shore. No need to worry, there is no white water. Or you can ocean
kayak along the coastal areas when the ocean permits. You can

Mountain biking: There
are two bike rentals in Hanalei. Powerline Trail will present a
few new challenges to even the avid mountain bike rider. There are
abundant mountain bike trails throughout Kauai. |
